In 2016, The Voice Australia coach Jessie J decided to get a taste of what the contestants go through when they audition for the show. She staged her very own blind audition for her fellow coaches.

Did Jessie turn all four chairs with her performance? Check out the video of the amazing moment below, and read on to find out how she fared with her co-stars.

Jessie J Auditions For ‘The Voice Australia’

Jessie took the stage, and the other coaches’ chairs turned around so they couldn’t see her — even though they knew who she was. “This is where no one turns and it’s really awkward,” Jessie joked before starting her performance.

“It’s really scary up here,” she added, and then realized, “Oh, I’m not supposed to speak.” As the lights dimmed, she prepared to perform “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston.

The crowd cheered as Jessie sang, and coach Delta Goodrem was excited about the song choice. As Jessie hit the chorus, all of the coaches hit their buttons to turn around for her. (One of the Madden Brothers took Jessie’s seat, so all four chairs turned.)

What Did The Coaches Think Of Jessie’s Audition?

Jessie got more and more into the song as she went on, at one point removing her jacket and throwing it on the ground. After the big notes, her voice got much gentler for the finale.

The coaches and audience applauded Jessie when she was done singing. Ronan Keating even stood up on his chair to clap. Jessie then went on to introduce herself as if she were a contestant.

“Hi, my name is Jess,” she said. “I’m 27. I’m from London.” She added that she was nervous to perform, prompting Benji Madden to jokingly tell her, in an English accent, “You’ve got to focus on your breathing, love.”

Australia isn’t the only place where Jessie J has coached on The Voice. She’s also appeared on the panel of The Voice UK and The Voice Kids UK.
