Kate Winslet Talks Steve Jobs, Boobs, Does a Mean Seth Rogen Impression at NYFF Event

“Steve Jobs,” boobs, Seth Rogen, lucky breaks, digital alteration and “Titanic” were among the many topics of discussion at Tuesday’s “An Evening With Kate Winslet.” Held at the Kaplan Penthouse, the Film Society of Lincoln Center event honored Winslet who is currently promoting her latest film, “Steve Jobs.”

She plays Jobs’s confidant Joanna Hoffman in the pic, which premiered on Oct. 3 as part of the 53rd New York Film Festival.

An intimate steak dinner was followed by a conversation between the actress and NYFF Director Kent Jones.

“I knew that I was going to have a job getting the (director Danny Boyle) to consider me for the role of Joanna because I’m tall and I’ve got boobs,” Winslet revealed. “The real Joanna is 5 foot 2 inches, and, well, maybe doesn’t have as big of boobs as I do.”

“I said to Danny on our first meeting that there would be no fuss. I just needed to disappear into the part.”

Winslet impressed the crowd with her ability to nail various accents and her spot-on impersonation of Seth Rogen.

“Seth was recently asked about (pic’s screenwriter) Aaron Sorkin’s dialogue. He explained that it felt like a relief because he didn’t have to keep rewriting everything. He said, ‘Yeah. Comedians if they don’t like something they just change it from take to take.’ He kept referring to this movie as a real movie.”

As for her early success with “Titanic” — Winslet said it “threw her.”

“Call me naïve, but I had no idea. I look back and I just remember thinking I don’t really know how to do this being famous thing. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for it and if I liked it. I was only 21 and I still had so much to learn. I just knew that I had to continue to work on myself as an actress and to love it. So I chose to do some smaller films because I wanted to stay grounded and learn and stretch myself.”

And when it come to Photoshopping pictures – she doesn’t like it.

“It bothers me that (young girls) aspire to look like some of these images of women in the public eye. So whenever I see my image digitally altered, I speak up about it.”
