Fans of American Song Contest noticed a familiar face representing Texas on the series, Grant Knoche. On April 5, he took the stage representing his home state of Texas. While some may not know him, others recognize him as one of the former faces of KIDZ BOP.

Even though this 19 year old singer’s KIDZ BOP days are long gone, it was a huge part of his rise to fame. Ahead of the kid based group, Knoche had been singing since he was seven and playing piano since he was nine. Reports state that Knoche taught himself piano from watching YouTube tutorials. When he was ten years old he answered KIDZ BOP’s casting call by creating a YouTube video.

After the intense boot camp-like audition process, Knoche signed a three year contract with the group. In this role, Knoche sang, danced, and performed under the widely known KIDZ BOP name. Before the group, Knoche had been hip hop dancing since the age of seven. This role, especially touring, brought together all of his talents.

On top of KIDZ BOP, Knoche was enrolled in online school along with other members of the group. At the age of 11, this singer taught himself yet another skill, how to write and produce music. Around this time, he began posting cover videos to YouTube calling himself “Grant from KIDZ BOP.”

In present day, all of his released music has been written and produced by him. Most of his singles have been released independently. In 2020, Knoche released his debut album, Color Me Blue. Since it’s release his music has been feature on multiple top playlists and he’s been considered a rising artist. To this day, he uses social media to share both cover and original songs. He currently has over 675,000 followers on TikTok, over 243,000 followers on Instagram and over 34,000 subscribers on YouTube.
