Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac Director’s Cut” is set to roll-out day and date on VOD and in theaters across various territories on Oct. 2.
The Charlotte-Gainsbourg starrer will play simultaneously in theaters and on VOD in the U.S., Canada, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and in Denmark. More territories will follow, according to TrustNordisk which handles international sales.
In Denmark, von Trier’s native country, the director’s cut version has received top reviews.
The first opus of “Nymphomaniac Vol.1″ world-premiered at Berlin, while the second part,”Nymphomaniac Vol.2” recently premiered at Venice.
TrustNordisk orchestrated an unusual distribution strategy for both movies, pushing distributors to release them day-and-date VOD-theatrical in markets where the practice is allowed.
In France, Les Films du Losange opted for a traditional distribution path because of the country’s strict release schedule. Indeed, France’s VOD window is set at four months after the theatrical opening.
