The Voice Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope recently shared the deeply personal stories behind her tattoos in a new video from the brand Mad Rabbit. Pope also talked about her recent music releases and how she’s blending pop-punk with country.
Cassadee Pope Reveals Meaning Behind Her Tattoos
“All of my tattoos definitely tell a story, and they’re all music-related,” Pope said in the video before showing off the first tattoo she got. It shows a bird singing, with musical notes emerging from its mouth. Pope described birds as “the singers of nature.”
Another one of Pope’s favorite tattoos is a happy face on her hand. Although some people think it’s supposed to be a stamp from a club, it’s actually a tribute to her late great-grandfather. She called him Pappy, but when she was very young, she pronounced it as Happy.
Pope also has a tattoo of a fedora surrounded by flowers in tribute to her friend Jason Gaviati, a fellow musician who passed away of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The tattoo was designed by an artist in Nashville to go with her bird tattoo.

Pope Talks About Her Recent Music Releases
In 2012, Pope won Season 3 of The Voice on Blake Shelton’s team after turning all four chairs in her Blind Audition. She’s the lead singer of the band Hey Monday and has released three solo studio albums since her win.
Earlier this year, Pope released her latest album Thrive, which features the single “What the Stars See” featuring Karen Fairchild and Lindsay Ell. The singer said she was inspired when looking at the stars one night and thinking about how they see everything, including what her exes are doing.
“I am on a journey of really blending the two worlds I love so much, pop-punk and country,” Pope said of her music. “I’ve really found this sweet spot in my voice and in my songwriting and in the production of my music where I can do all of that, and it’s really life-giving and feels authentic to me.”
Pope also talked about her charity work for Hands On Nashville, Outnumber Hunger, and Unlikely Heroes. She said it was “a no-brainer to help out.”
